A message from Sarah Morgan, Commercial Director
As we wrap up the first quarter of the year, it's great to look back on an incredibly productive and busy time.
Our gynaecology pathway, which we launched last year in collaboration with Bupa Insurance, is thriving, with over 120 patients seen in February alone. We are also excited to announce its recent launch at Basinghall Clinic, adding to its established presence at both Cromwell and London Medical. This expansion highlights our commitment to providing rapid access to care and improving patient outcomes. A big thank you to the internal Cromwell teams and all our gynaecology consultants for their hard work in making this pathway a success.
We continue to draw closer to the launch of our da Vinci Single Port programme – a technological advancement set to revolutionise our robotic programme. We are launching initially with urology, endometriosis, HPB, and head and neck surgery, and are looking forward to embedding more specialties over time.
We are aware and very appreciative of your patience and support while we continue our expansion programme. Later in the year, we look forward to opening our doors to the new space in Lexham Gardens, which will provide additional capacity and free up space around the rest of the hospital.
We look forward to continued success and growth together in the upcoming months.
Sarah Morgan, Commerical Director

Da Vinci SP arrives at the hospital
We are pleased to share that the much-anticipated da Vinci SP robotic system arrived safely at 米兰体育 in early March.
Our first cohort of surgeons have now commenced after-hours training, with patient surgeries expected to start in April.
The da Vinci SP robotic system is an exciting acquisition for 米兰体育 that forms part of our ambition to provide a word-class experience for both consultants and patients.
By acquiring the da Vinci SP robotic system, our consultants will benefit from greater choice over how they perform robotic-assisted surgery to best suit their practice and meet their patients’ clinical needs.
Additionally, certain patients may now be able to benefit from minimally invasive care using the da Vinci SP, where otherwise it may not have been suitable.

First robotic upper GI surgery takes place
We are pleased to announce that the hospital’s first upper GI robotic surgery took place on Monday 17 March.
The case was an anti-reflux surgery (robotic-assisted repair of hiatus with anti-reflux procedure) carried out by Professor Shaun Preston. Professor Preston is well-known for his work in oesophago-gastric cancer and brings significant expertise in robotic surgery to 米兰体育.
This is an exciting time for the hospital, as robotic surgery continues to improve our consultants’ practices and patient experience, increasing our efforts in providing a world-class service.
An update on Lexham Gardens
Following the opening of Theatre Six in June, work continues to progress on our hospital expansion.
Announced in late 2023, the expansion project will grant us an additional 33,000 additional sq ft of space by extending the hospital’s campus into an adjoining building, located on Lexham Gardens.
Work started at the beginning of July 2024 on our new Angiology labs; however, this took a brief pause late last year due to our primary contractors going into administration. Work re-started in the New Year, and we are now on track to move into our new lab in July 2025. This phase of construction also includes a new reception area and general stores for Theatres. Therapies and Radiology will move into their new Lexham Gardens space in September 2025.
The opening of Lexham Gardens creates space within the ground floor of the hospital to increase our outpatient capacity, and we look forward to starting this work as soon as Lexham Gardens opens.
New Radiology equipment
The new Radiology department within Lexham Gardens will be receiving the following equipment to help support your patients:
- 4x Samsung RS85 ultrasound machines – with enhanced software and quantification software
- 2x Siemens YSIO X.pree X-ray machines – with AI-supported imaging for consistent results
- 2x Siemens mobile C-arms – featuring new image intensifiers to support theatre imaging and AI software features to guide surgeons intraoperatively
- Siemens Luminos Lotus Max fluoroscopy machine – a two-in-one fluoroscopy and radiography machine for dynamic imaging
- Samsung GM85 mobile X-ray machine – a new mobile imaging unit to support acute work in ITU
- GE DEXA scanner – with additional body composition software
During the next phase of expansion, we will also introduce:
- Siemens Symbia Pro.specta SPECT/CT scanner
- Philips 3T MRI scanner
New self-pay package for cochlear implants
米兰体育 is pleased to be offering a new self-pay package for cochlear implants, available to both adult and paediatric patients with severe hearing loss.
The package includes:
- an initial consultation to determine the patient’s level of hearing loss and eligibility for treatment
- a unilateral insertion of a cochlear implant, which is typically carried out as a day case procedure
- a 12-month follow-up package to calibrate the implant with an audiologist
Patient referrals should be directed to Mr David Selvadurai, Consultant ENT Surgeon, who is leading the programme. Patients can also self-refer to the service by calling our Self-Pay team on 020 7244 4886.

Pilot cardiology support program
Alongside Bupa’s Clinic Services team, 米兰体育’s Cardiology team is launching a pilot cardiology support program for Bupa patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) on Monday 24 March.
The program is geared to target those customers with early-stage CAD who could benefit from a programme of coaching, advice, and support on how best to manage their condition. It will be delivered by Bupa’s clinicians, all of whom are registered nurses with extensive experience.
Patients meeting the inclusion criteria below may be referred using a specific referral proforma (attached) that can be emailed directly to the Clinical Services team at [email protected].
Metrics captured at the start of program (on the referral proforma) will be captured again at the end of the program, which lasts approximately six months, for comparison. This will inform our understanding of the progress made over the course of the program.
The program is delivered at no additional cost to Bupa’s customers and has no impact on excess or benefit limits.
The data gleaned from this pilot will help inform further rollout and expansion of the program.
Inclusion criteria:
- a calcium score > 50th percentile (for age, race, and gender), and/or
- plaque disease > 25% on CT angiogram
