Head and Neck Surgery London opens

We are delighted to announce the opening of the Head and Neck Surgery London outpatient centre at the Mews.

The centre has been created for patients experiencing head and neck symptoms. It houses several consulting rooms and a treatment room which contains the latest equipment, including a state-of-the-art dental chair.

The centre is also a fully equipped dental implant suite and can provide comprehensive care for patients – including immediate placement of implants, bone grafting, sinus lifting, and surgical extractions – with the reassurance and confidence of being treated by the very top consultants at 米兰体育.

The team is also able to provide care for emergencies such as dental trauma, tooth loss, facial injuries, and dental infections.

Mr Alastair Fry, Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon said: “I’m excited to share that our new Head and Neck Surgery outpatient centre is now open. This facility will provide patients with efficient, quality care for head and neck concerns. We look forward to seeing patients in the new facility and offering them world-class care.”

Spotlight on: Thomas Rhodes and the Self-Pay team

Thomas Rhodes, Self-Pay Manager, oversees the operational and commerical aspects of the hospital’s dedicated Self-Pay team. ?

“Joining 米兰体育 in 2022, I have helped lead and develop Cromwell’s Self-Pay team. My role was focused on the operational management of the team, with the primary function to drive sales conversion of enquiries into consultations. ?

From August 2023, I supported the management of the Consultant Clinics team, organising the outpatient clinic schedule and overall utilisation. As of January 2024, my role evolved, further relinquishing the Consultant Clinic function and managing the Self-Pay team from not only an operational stance but also commercially. Additionally, I work alongside the Marketing, Consultant Engagement, and Business Development teams to promote further Self-Pay initiatives, encouraging more patients to visit 米兰体育 and our consultants. ?

The team itself has grown to five members of staff, including myself, Georgia Gough, Kyle Alveranga, Steven Colhoun, and Stephen Papadopoulos. Collectively, we pride ourselves on the high level of support and experience that we?provide to patients, medical secretaries, and consultants alike – whether that be via our same-day response rate to enquiries, speed of quotation delivery, or concierge-style customer service which emphasises both the hospital and our consultants’ USPs. ?

Spotlight on: Galina and Natacha in Consultant Clinics

Galina Siromashka and Natacha Van-Dunem work within the Consultant Clinics team, helping to support consultants and streamline the process of clinic scheduling.?

Galina: “I’m excited to step into the role of Outpatient Scheduling Process Lead. I bring with me a strong background in administration, service coordination, and process improvement, with several years of experience in the healthcare sector.?

In my new role, my primary focus will be on supporting consultants and ensuring their clinic scheduling needs are met in a timely, efficient, and consistent manner. I aim to improve communication, reduce delays in setting up clinics, and provide a more streamlined and supportive process that allows consultants to focus on delivering high-quality care.?

I’m passionate about creating clear systems and fostering strong collaboration between clinical and administrative teams. I look forward to working closely with colleagues across the organisation to enhance the overall outpatient experience.”?

Natacha: “I started my journey five years ago as a patient coordinator at 米兰体育, and since then, I've had the chance to work in admin roles, including helping with the opening of the urgent care centre. ?

About a year ago, I became the secretary for an audiologist, which has been a great experience and has helped me to better understand how to support our consultants.?

Since I?enjoy learning new things and developing my skills, I recently started my current role as Outpatient Scheduling Team Leader, working alongside the Consultant Engagement team, who is responsible for the majority of outpatient clinical room allocation across the hospital. My goal as a Team Lead is to build a high-performance team and deliver an exceptional service to our consultants.?

I also see lots of opportunities for growth in the Consultant Clinics area and am excited about what the future holds. I'm always open to new challenges and good things coming my way!”?

Hyperhidrosis and facial flushing surgery

We are pleased to have introduced VATS sympathectomy to the hospital, providing patients with an effective and long-lasting solution to excessive sweating and facial flushing.

We are one of the only private hospitals in the UK to offer VATS sympathectomy for these conditions. People who sweat excessively from their hands or who have uncontrollable facial flushing may feel anxious or embarrassed about their condition, which can have a debilitating effect on their quality of life.

This service is led by Mr Marco Scarci, Consultant Thoracic Surgeon, to whom any patient referrals should be directed.

Sleep services

Our sleep service offers a comprehensive range of sleep investigations, including respiratory polygraphies and the gold standard test for sleep investigations: polysomnography (PSG). Other complex tests, such as PSG with MSLT (multiple sleep latency test), actigraphy, and nocturnal O2/CO2 monitoring, are also offered in our service. The service is led by our expert physiologists who are supported by a consultant of sleep medicine, ensuring accurate, efficient, and excellent care is offered across our paediatric and adult patients.?

We provide a selection of treatments for conditions such as obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and snoring. In the UK, an estimated 80% to 85% of people suffering with OSA are undiagnosed and therefore, untreated. Untreated OSA can lead to various health problems, including excessive daytime sleepiness, increased risk of accidents, and higher rates of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and stroke.

Menopause can increase the risk of OSA in women.?Studies show that postmenopausal women are more likely to have OSA compared to premenopausal women. This increase is often attributed to hormonal changes, weight gain, and shifts in body fat distribution after menopause.?We work with a multidisciplinary team to support patients throughout their sleep journey.

We aim to offer appointment slots within seven days of referral, and to provide a final report to the referring clinician within seven business days of testing. All inpatient studies will be carried out at 米兰体育, with patients staying in our designated sleep room.

To perform any sleep investigations, we require a referral stating the reason for the test and some clinical history.

Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET)

The Lung Centre, based in the Clinical Investigations Centre (CIC), welcomes referrals from consultants to its expert-led cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) service.?

Our service is run by skilled physiologists who work with both adult and paediatric patients. Typically, CPET reports are turned around within five working days, which includes a comprehensive physiologist report and consultant interpretation.??

Dr Jadoon is a BMS-certified menopause specialist, offering HRT and other treatment options. She provides minimally invasive surgery for benign conditions such as endometriosis and fibroids, as well as outpatient services, including hysteroscopy.

The latest updates from our outpatient diagnostic centre in the heart of the City.

New gynaecology pathway

We are pleased to announce that a new gynaecology pathway went live on 10 April at Basinghall Clinic. ?

The pathway is a one-stop service that will be delivered by gynaecologists Dr Bismeen Jadoon and Miss Hersha Patel. The pathway also has a dedicated Service Coordinator to support a frictionless experience.?

At present, this service will be held weekly, alternating between one and two clinics every other week.?
